2.1. Modelling and simulation of biochemical networks

( Rating 4 from 1 vote )

Module section description: Modelling and simulation of biochemical networks is used to mimic cellular systems through mathematical models. This can aid the understanding of systems that underly processes like e.g. cell cycle, apoptosis, cell differentiation. Biochemical networks under investigation are transcriptional regulatory networks, protein synthesis pathways, protein-protein interaction networks, metabolic networks and signalling pathways. There are three steps in the process of building a model:

1. Construction
2. Tuning of parameters
3. Validation

Models of biochemical systems can be used to study the behaviour of a system and generate hypothesis about the real system.
